Is Your Nonprofit Paying Fairly and Staying Compliant? The 2026 Data Is Here and We Invite You to Learn More.

Are You Benchmarking Against the Right Numbers?

If you lead or work in a nonprofit, you already know the challenge: attracting and retaining mission-driven talent in a market where compensation expectations keep shifting and where employment law seems to change every time the Virginia General Assembly meets. Are your salaries competitive? Are your benefits keeping up? And are your policies still legally sound?

If you’re not sure, you’re not alone. These are the questions nonprofit HR and finance leaders ask every year, and this year we have fresh data to help answer them.

Warren Whitney Is Co-Presenting the 2026 Report Webinar. Here’s the Details

The 2026 Moving Toward Equity: Nonprofit Compensation, Benefits, and Work Culture Report is out and we’re hosting a 90-minute webinar to walk nonprofit leaders through what it means for their organizations.

The session brings together two areas that nonprofit employers can’t afford to get wrong at the same time: current employment law and real compensation benchmarking data from right here in the RVA nonprofit community.

Webinar Dates:

  • Monday, June 8 | 2:00 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.
  • Wednesday, June 10 | 11:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.

Can’t make either date? You can request access to the recording and presentation materials.

This webinar is sponsored by the Bob and Anna Lou Schaberg Foundation.

Who’s Presenting

The webinar is structured in two parts, each with live Q&A.

Part One: Virginia Nonprofit Employers’ 2026 Mid-Year Legal Update Attorneys Leah Stiegler and Alex Liubinskas of Wood Rogers will open with a 30-minute overview of recent employment law changes with a particular focus on new legislation from the Virginia General Assembly and what it means for nonprofit employers. If your HR policies haven’t been reviewed since last year, this session alone is worth attending.

Part Two: Interpreting the Moving Toward Equity Report Esther Nand, HR Consultant with Warren Whitney and author of the 2026 Moving Toward Equity report, will guide attendees through the findings, how to read the salary benchmarking data, and what the report reveals about compensation trends, benefits, recruitment, retention, and workplace culture across RVA nonprofits. Esther wrote the report, so you’ll hear directly from the person who knows it best.

What the Webinar Covers

Across both sessions, attendees will come away with:

  • A clear summary of new Virginia employment law affecting nonprofits in 2026 and the employer action items that come with it
  • How to interpret and apply salary benchmarking data from the Moving Toward Equity report to your own compensation decisions
  • Findings on benefits, recruitment, and retention trends across the RVA nonprofit sector
  • Insight into workplace culture shifts and how peer organizations are responding
  • Answers to your specific questions through live Q&A in both sessions

Why This Report Is Worth Your Time

The Moving Toward Equity report is one of the few compensation and culture surveys designed specifically for RVA nonprofits — not national averages, not for-profit proxies, but data from organizations doing the same work in the same market. For nonprofit leaders trying to make defensible compensation decisions, set realistic budgets, or understand why they’re losing candidates to peer organizations, this is the benchmark to use.

Pair that with an up-to-date legal briefing and you have a 90-minute session that addresses two of the most pressing operational concerns facing nonprofit HR right now.
